"L" is for London

Tower Bridge

London is now one of my very favorite places.

Ever.

Millennium Bridge, the pedestrian bridge destroyed by Death Eaters .

My husband and I have been three times so far, and I always can't wait to go back.  We've done some touristy things, like the Hop-on Hop-off bus tour (a must-do!), Madame Tussaud's, the London Eye (also a must-do!), and the theater among other things, and there's still so much that I want to do.

I wouldn't consider myself either a country or city girl...I love living somewhere with space and privacy, but I love having easy access to a city with great shopping, amazing food, and many things to do.

What's been my favorite thing so far?  Oddly enough, the food.  We spent a long weekend there, and ate breakfast one day at this little place called The Breakfast Club.  It's a small chain; there are only a few, and they're all in London.  The one we ate at was in Soho.  The food was amazing and home-made; even our juices (one apple, one orange) were both fresh-squeezed.  So good.  I recommend it to everyone who wants a good meal.

All pics in this post are mine, by the way.  You can probably tell from the pictures that the weather is actually quite nice!

Have you been to London?  If yes, did you enjoy it?  If not, do you want to go?  Or where is your favorite place?

xoxo Sarah

  1. So much LOVE! I did a semester study abroad back in 1999 in London, and fell in love. We were lucky enough to also travel all over England, but London was where my heart was. And yeah, strangely enough, I was totally digging the food, too. (Except that it was blooming murder finding an ice-cold Diet Coke!)

    Great pictures!

Isn't A-Z such fun? I'm finding so many cool blogs!

    1. Thank you so much! Haha, yes, cold--actually COLD--drinks, or even those with ice, are much harder to come by over here. I'm glad you liked the pics, and are having fun with the A-Z Challenge. I'm headed over to check your blog out now!

  2. I visited London in 2010- we also rode the Eye and visited the V&A museum. The best part was the bike tour through the royal parks. I found it through tripadvisor.com as one of the top attractions in London based on user ratings. It's this rinky-dink operation where for 20 pounds a person you rent a bike for a 4 hour guided tour. It even includes a beer at a pub near Westminster Abbey. It's seriously the best use of time/money and you get to see so much.

I can't wait to go back. My best friend moved to England a few years ago - she's south of London by 30 miles or so. All the food we had that was good came from her family there; most of what we ate out was not that great, with the exception of a farm we visited that had a restaurant with all local produce.

    1. Ooh, I'll have to check out the bike tour! Now that the weather is getting warmer, it seems like it would be an awesome thing to do. Great tip! And yes, the farm shops have amazing food...lots of fresh produce and meat. Yum!

    2. I hadn't thought of taking a bike tour of London. I did one in Brugge and it was great! I'll look into one for my next set of visitors.

  3. I've been there several times. Would take months to see everything. Windsor Palace is the mind-blower. Millions of dollars in every room...

    1. We haven't done the tour yet, but are very excited to! It's one of the few cities I could happily live in, and not just live near or have access to.

  4. Sarah, I had the opportunity to live in London for two summers during college. It is my favorite place in the world as well. I was reminiscing about London in my L post today as well. I was taking two hours of college courses per day while there and the rest of time I got to explore. I still don't think I got to see it all. I have also been very fortunate to have traveled all over the world and I still come back to wanting to live in London some day.

  7. London is very high on my bucket list. I've always wanted to go, but it just hasn't happened yet! I think I read a book where the characters went to The Breakfast Club...I wish I could remember what book it was! Beautiful pics, btw, they make me want to go even more!
