But it's so much more than that. It's relatively in the middle of the state, and sits at about 5,000-6,000 feet above sea level. The population of the area is a bit over half a million people.
Bordered by the Sandia Mountains on the eastern side and sloping down westward, the sunrises and sunsets are something to behold. The scenery is lovely--yes, it's mostly brown, but there's something beautiful about it.
There's a lot to do, a lot to see, and so. Much. To. Eat.
So instead of making that left turn at Albuquerque, stop by for a bit.
I'll be hitting a lot of Albuquerque stuff in the coming days as well as New Mexico as a whole. I hope you enjoy my A-Z Challenge posts!
xoxo Sarah
I love that you've started with Albquerque. I've stayed there once for several days and have good memories about it. Let's see where you will take me tomorrow.

DeleteYou're very welcome! I can't wait to see what other obscure words you come up with.
DeleteWhen we lived in Santa Fe, we would visit Albuquerque quite often. It always had so many more things to do than Santa Fe, especially for young children. I would imagine you will be featuring the tram somewhere along the line this month :)

There is a ton to do in ABQ, but we're looking forward to enjoying Santa Fe, too! And maaaaybe the tram is on here somewhere. ;-)
DeleteI don't know anything about the place but the photo is stunning!

Thanks! Morning walks are awesome.
DeleteI've only been to Albuquerque once, on a road trip with my mother in law to rescue my sister in law and her family when their van broke down just outside Roswell. That trip holds special meaning for me as it brought me closer to my in-laws, and allowed me an opportunity to see a place I'd never been. It seemed lovely. I need to go back.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had quite an adventure! I'm glad it worked out so well.
DeleteBugs bunny, brings back childhood memories of Saturday morning. :) I have never been to New Mexico, beautiful pictures. http://goodbadpoet.blog.com/
ReplyDeleteIt sure does! And I'm happy you liked the pictures. Thanks for coming by!
